NOAA CoastWatch provides (mask-applied) global, 11km, Level 3, Standard Mapped Image (SMI), 4km, daytime SST data from NASA's Aqua Spacecraft as 1-day, 8-day, and monthly composites. Measurements are gathered by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) carried aboard the spacecraft. This is Science Quality data from a reprocessing version dated August 2015.
Files downloaded daily from http://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/MODIS-Aqua/L3SMI to NOAA SWFSC ERD (email@example.com). ERD applies the quality mask (http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/DOCS/Ocean_Level-3_SMI_Products.pdf), leaving only highest quality values, and generates new files. ERD uses .ncml to add a time dimension.
Despite our best efforts, incorrect data may often appear within near real time data sets. NOAA CoastWatch accepts no liability for use of these data products. It is recommended that these products NOT be used for navigation.
If this data is used for presentation or publication, please acknowledge the NOAA CoastWatch Program and NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.
